God had a dream. People.
A people who shared His likeness and beheld Him face to face.
God breathed, Adam was alive and lived face to face with God.
Adam in fear and lack exchanged his God-likeness. All died.
Adam’s race was defined and dominated by sin.
The fruit from this sin was self likeness, not God likeness. It looks like separation, fear, insecurity, judgement, hate, war, murder, anxiety, doubt, fear, lack.
A second Adam came and took the first Adam’s place.
God’s Spirit rested on the second and last Adam.
He lived, died and was raised again. This second and last Adam offers a new life, a new birth.
All who are dead and are identified by the first Adam’s likeness, are invited into a new birth. They are ‘born again’ into the likeness of the second and last Adam. The identification and nature that was given by the first Adam is eradicated and gives way to the likeness of the second and last Adam.
In this new birth there is NO mixing of the two Adam’s. One dies and one lives. Those in the new birth, caused by the second and last Adam, share no likeness of the first Adam. The first is removed by a cross, faith and water. A new Spirit is given as a sign and pledge of the new birth. This is exactly why, when one in the new, practices the ways of the old Adam, there is discomfort and conviction.
This new birth and ‘born again’ experience is characterized by the last Adam’s life. A life that is dispensed by faith into the recipient.
This new birth is free from sin, dominated by God and the possession of the Spirit. It reveals a newly created person in ‘right,’ face to face relationship with God.
This newly created person is defined by life, empowered by grace and nourished in holiness.
The fruit of this new birth is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
By the second and last Adam, people again can live in friendship with God and again, share His likeness.
Face to face with God.
